Frank pointed to the open window, They can't have—

Wendy put her head out the window and peered down eight storeys to the empty street below. No, impossible.

Frank came over and stood beside Wendy facing the cool night breeze and the stars. By instinct she put a hand on the back of his bare scalp and squeezed when together they watched the sky as for a single fleeting moment two silhouettes flew in front of the moon.

She's gone, said Wendy. She's gone.
