She looked at her watch, it was time to go to
the meeting Zeus had called. The meeting room would be full of
those in positions of leadership needed for whatever Zeus was about
to discuss. All the top level leaders, gods and demons, were
present with several of the second level and any mates. There was
standing room only and not much of that.

Lu sat with Baal on one side and Asmodius, or
Asmo as most called him, on the other. It looked like the demons
would play an important role at this meeting because Lu usually
attended alone. One of his top three rarely accompanied him, but
never both of his top two. Maybe he had made a decision about
taking over the small facility Zeus had offered him not long
ago.

Everyone was finally there, and the doors
were closed. Silence fell over the room as everyone speculated
about what Zeus would soon tell them. He stood and cleared his
throat before addressing the group.

“There is only one verified facility location
left to hit and a couple that aren’t verified that we will save for
later. The verified location is the one in Motuo County, China.
Apollo will handle that mission but we have two other places, one a
suspected lab and the other a possible imprisoned god that we need
to deal with immediately. The god may be seriously injured and we
need a doctor and one of our top leadership to try to rescue him
before it’s too late.” Zeus looked directly at Doc and Hades with a
nod. “They’ll need to leave directly after the meeting. The plane
is being readied with everything needed as we speak.”

“Who are you sending with us?” Hades
asked.

“Four gods, Dione, Erebus, Zot, and Aaron.
The location is in the US and near a major city, Chicago. You’ll
have to make it a surgical strike, no back up. No one will know
what’s going on so don’t get caught. In and out, take no chances
and prisoners are optional.”

“John Wayne style, I can handle that,” Hades
said. He had been watching a bunch of movies that Doc and her
sister’s called
classics
. Many of the old westerns starred
John Wayne. Recently they had started showing old world war one and
two movies as well. The old action flicks called to him and he had
learned to enjoy popcorn. Not just eating it either, he was
skillful at hitting targets with it.

“The suspected lab is in Mexico and Hercules
will pick his team for that mission. This will also need to happen
quickly before they abandon the lab and destroy it. There is
supposed to be some information there that will be helpful to us. I
need everyone to start preparing for their assignments right
away.”

Some of the group disbursed since he had
dismissed them but the top level leadership stayed. “There is one
more location on our list. It is in the swamp in Louisiana but
we’ll have to work with a local as a guide. I’ve already spoken to
her, I need a volunteer to head up this mission.”

“I’ll go,” Eres said quickly. “What kind of
facility is it and when do we leave?”

“I don’t know what kind it is, it doesn’t
have any details which concerns me, but you leave as soon as
possible. Gather a team and prepare to go. Be careful, the whole
thing seems sketchy at best, but we can’t turn our backs on
possible gods in need.”

“Right away,” Eres said as he stood up and
hurried out the door.

“I’m concerned with so many out on missions
that someone might try to attack us here,” Sierra said.

“Me, too but what choice do we have?” Zeus
asked.

“The hotline can be a wonderful tool but it
can also be a weapon used against us,” Cherish observed.

“What do you mean?” Zeus asked.

“All they have to do is call in a false lead
to lure our teams to their location and attack them. If the lead
sounds good enough and the alleged captives in enough danger, what
choice will we have?”

“I see your point, but you’re right about our
choices to. We can’t take the time to investigate thoroughly for
fear our brothers will be hurt seriously or moved where they will
be lost to us.”

“I feel very uncomfortable about Hades’s and
Doc’s mission. I don’t feel too good about the other’s either. I
wish there was someway to give them an edge.” She snapped her
fingers sending the sound through the room. “I’ve got it, we have
some new surveillance equipment that came in yesterday. It should
help.”

“Anything that can help them is
appreciated.”

“We’ll take anything we can get,” Hades said.
His mate’s safety was too important to take chances with.

Now that the meeting had run its course,
Cherish and Hermes escorted Doc and Hades to the armory. Cherish
dug a neat mini sized gun out and handed it to Doc.

Doc looked at her in shock. “What am I
supposed to do with this little bitty thing?”

“It’s not a gun. It’s the latest in taser
tech and it’ll take down anyone in front of you. It’ll take down
more than one attacker. It’s just a little surprise if you get
overwhelmed.” She handed Hades some goggles. “These may give you an
advantage. They are night vision, heat, and have telescopic lenses
so you can see for miles. I hope it will make a difference.”

“I think it might,” Hades said as he clutched
the goggles like he thought someone would take them away. Doc
pocketed the taser gun. It could make all the difference if they
were surprised by Origin soldiers.

Cher and Hermes left and Doc and Hades went
to pack. Doc would admit she was tired of missions but she would do
her part for the gods who were now her people. Now that Zeus had
sent Way and Apollo on a mission, she started to worry that they
would be okay and to feel guilty about sending Way where she might
be harmed. The idea had seemed so good until it was implemented and
she had time to see the possible consequences.

Never faint of heart herself, she still felt
the need to protect her sisters from any possible danger. She had
worried about Way the most since Gus had died leaving her broken
hearted. She hoped Apollo could snap her out of it and get her back
to living life instead of just watching the days go by. Now that
they were forced together, Doc was worrying and second guessing
herself more with every moment.

Inside Hades’s suite, she began to pack.
“Hey, Babe, if you pack fast enough, we might have just enough time
for me to poke you with my happy stick,” Hades said swiveling his
hips and smiling.

Doc didn’t answer, she just packed what she
needed in record time then turned to see if he was done, he was.
They moved quickly for each other fearful every moment that someone
would knock on the door or call them on the radio. They quickly
stripped, wasting no time. Doc jumped into his arms needing him to
make her forget everything but him. Not an easy task but she was
sure he was up for it. They fell onto the bed in a jumble of arms
and legs.

Quickie was the word of the day as he kissed
her lips and his hand worked down to her thighs. He slid his finger
in and moaned when he felt how slick and ready she was. He used his

Doc tossed it to him because it was easier to
give in than to argue, besides she liked watching his muscles
ripple as he carried his pack and hers as she followed behind him.

They loaded into the helicopter and she put
on her headphones. She had educational tapes, audio books, and a
selection of music. Right now she intended to curl into her mate
and sleep so she picked one of the easy listening CDs to play.
Hades, she knew, would listen to educational tapes most if not all
of the way there. Everyone handled the travel on the missions
differently but they all had learned to adjust.

She had never been on a mission with any of
these gods before but she knew Dione and Erebus best. She hadn’t
met Aaron and Zot until today, but with only the six of them on the
mission, they would get to know each other quickly once they
landed. They wouldn’t go to DC as they usually did, but straight to
Chicago. They had hotel rooms waiting at the edge of town nearest
the location. They flew into a private airport not far from the
hotel.

When they arrived, she noticed it was a nice
hotel. They had a pool, hot tub, spa, and other amenities she was
sure she wouldn’t get to use much. Today they would check in, eat,
and rest up for tomorrow when the mission would begin in earnest.
She leafed through the hotel’s pamphlet that showed the spa’s
offerings and her eyes went straight to a couples massage.

“Hades, since we have the afternoon to rest
up, can I see if we can get an appointment for a massage
together.”

“Mm, that sounds nice,” he said. She got the
impression he might not be paying attention. Wouldn’t he be
surprised if she made the appointment and he hadn’t been listening.
When all was said and done, the gods were a lot like men in the
end.

She called down to the spa.

“Horizon spa, this is Sandy. May I help
you?”

“This is room 145, do you have any openings
for a couple massage this afternoon?”

“Let me check the schedule…ah, yes. I have
one at three thirty. Will that work for you?”

“That’s great.”

“What names do you want me to put down?”

Doc remembered the names they had used to
check in. “Gemma and Hal Jones.”

“We’ll see you at three thirty. Thank you for
calling Horizon spa!”

“What was that all about?” Hades asked, his
full attention now on her.

“We have a spa appointment after lunch.”

“A spa appointment? What the hell for?”

“You should be more careful what you say when
you’re watching TV. I asked you and you agreed, so now you’ll
go.”

Hades grumbled, but she knew he would go with
her. She thought he’d enjoy it if he gave it a chance. They went
downstairs to the lobby to meet up with the rest of the team. They
ate and had drinks at the hotel bar because the restaurant was
crowded. The food was good and they relaxed with a drink
afterwards.

“Do you two want to go out to another bar
with us?” Zot asked.

“We have an appointment at the spa this
afternoon,” Doc said.

“For what?” Dione asked

“A couples massage,” Doc replied.

“I bet that will be fun,” Aaron said with a
smirk.

“You bet your ass it will be,” Doc answered.
“You ever had a message before?”

“No, I can’t say that I have.”

“You don’t know what your missing.”

“Maybe we should get a massage then go to the
bar?” Dione said.

“I doubt you’ll manage an appointment this
late, but it never hurts to try.”

“You can take
my
place,” Hades
offered.

“Like hell,” Doc growled. “You agreed and
you’ll go.”

“Okay, Baby. I was just joking,” Hades said
causing all the guys to laugh.

Hades and Doc headed back into the hotel to
find the spa for their appointment since it was nearly time. As Doc
turned back to catch sight of the four gods leaving the hotel, she
hoped they would be alright. They weren’t used to being on their
own among crazy and drunk humans. She knew they would probably pick
up women and she hoped that went alright too. Hades didn’t seem
worried about them so she would concentrate on him for the rest of
the night.

They found the spa and entered. The colors
were earthy and incense burned giving the place a soothing smell.
The receptionist caught sight of Hades and she had a hard time
looking away.

“Hello,” she said with a smile that seemed to
be only for him

“Hello,” he said back with a slight smile
though he clearly didn’t return her interest.

“We have an appointment for a couples
massage,” Doc said.

“Oh,” the woman said with obvious
disappointment. “I’ll let Leon and Ellen know you’re here.” She
slipped into the back room for a moment and a male and a female
came out to greet them.

“Just follow us,” the male said with a
friendly smile.

They followed them into the back room where
tables were set up. “I’m Leon and I’ll be doing your message while
Ellen does your husband’s. If you two will go back to the dressing
room, you’ll find robes to change into.”

Doc and Hades went there to change. “Why are
we undressing? I don’t want you around that male naked,” Hades
said.

“It’s just for a massage. It’s not sexual and
the female will be giving you a massage.”

“That won’t bother you?”

“Not unless she initiates sex, which she
better not.”

“I’ll try this to see how it goes, but
remember I said I didn’t like the idea of him touching you.”
