“Brad? The sheriff?”

“Yes. He said that the wolves are known to him, and steps have been taken to deal with the matter. He also asked me to welcome you to the town, properly.”

“Properly? I’ve been living here for months.”

“But now you belong here. He would like us to go over and have dinner with him and Abbi.”

“Abbi, that’s his wife?”

“Soon will be. She’s excited not to be the newest member of our clan.”

“Oh, I’m the newbie until someone else comes along?”

“That's usually how these things work. Anyway, I said we would, as soon as we can find time.” He came to her, and pulled her into his arms, kissing her fiercely. “I’d like you to myself for a while. There are so many things I want to teach you.”

She wrapped her arms around his neck. “I look forward to being your pupil. I want to learn to please you, Daryl. You have so much experience, and I have none.”

“I like it that way,” he said. His warm breath caressed her neck, before his lips trailed down over her collarbone. Then he dipped his head and nipped her breast through her clothes. She took his hand and put it between her thighs, and he rubbed her clit.

She clung to him, her hand on his cock, squeezing him through his jeans until he was hard. Then he placed his hand on hers and stilled her. “Let’s go, or else I won’t be able to contain myself.”

“Where are we going?”

“A picnic.”

She laughed. “Ahh, so that’s what the backpack is for.”

“Yes,” he said, lifting it off the table. “I feel bad that we went all the way, when I haven’t even taken you on our date yet.”

“You did take advantage of me.”

She watched his face change, and he frowned. “Is that how you feel? I should have let you recover before we made love. I never thought.”

She laughed, feeling light headed and happy. “Don’t be stupid. I was joking. It was right. That’s all I know.”

“Thank goodness,” he said, cupping her cheek with his hand, stroking her lips with her lips with his thumb. Then he kissed her slowly, his tongue exploring her mouth, sending fresh tremors through her body.

He broke away from her, and took her hand, leading her out to his truck. The air was warm, the midday sun bright as she walked across to his truck. While he put the pack in the back, she turned and looked at his house. “It’s beautiful,” she said, admiring the solid wooden cabin. It was big, but not imposing, nestling in a well kept garden.

“We built it with wood from the forest. My family, and some folks from town.”

“Bear folks.”

“Bear folks,” he said nodding. “And over there is where I’m going to build a treehouse for our kids.” He watched her face change. “When it’s time, there’s no rush. But you know bears mate for life. I will never be the one to leave, Kayleigh. Only death will ever part us, and even then, the myth is that we meet up in the afterlife. A place I’m not planning on visiting for some time yet.”

She put her hand on her stomach. “I’ve spent so many years telling myself I’ll never have children, but I’m coming around to the idea. Here in Bear Creek, it’s the most perfect place.”

“Picnic. Then we can practice baby making again. And again and again.” He climbed into the truck and started the engine.

They headed up towards the farm. Then he turned off along another track, before he stopped and they got out. He grabbed the pack, and then they walked slowly up the lower slopes, enjoying each other’s company. Kayleigh leaned against him. Pressing herself close to him, her head resting on his shoulder while they looked down at the town below.

“Home,” she said.

“You’ll like it here, Kayleigh.”

“I already do.” She looked at the bag. “Is this where we're having our picnic?”

“No. I thought we’d go somewhere a little more private.”

He turned to walk higher up the slope, and then headed into the trees, which formed a copse around a cool clear spring. There was a grassy bank on the side furthest away, and that’s where they headed. Daryl lifting her over the water, although she could have made it herself. But she loved having his hands on her body, and he loved putting his hands on her body.

Here they sat and ate, letting the day go by. Lazy days, and long lust filled nights, life with Daryl held so much promise. He had packed sandwiches, thick cut bread filled with egg and mayo, while others had thick pieces of chicken, with salad. Homemade pies along with, what she guessed was, his mom’s cake. It tasted so fresh. Kayleigh wondered if she had come over to visit this morning while she had slept.

“Will your parents forgive me for running off like that?”

“They already have. They are just so relieved. Especially now you know everything, and have accepted it. You have accepted it, right?” he asked, his insecurity rearing its head once more.

“Yes. Although it hasn’t properly sunk in. I still think it was all a dream.”

“It wasn’t.”

“Will you show me?” she asked.

“Here?”

“Now.”

He got up, and moved away from her. “Don’t freak out and run off. Promise?”

“I promise.” Although she wasn’t sure that last piece of cake had been such a good idea. She felt sick with anticipation.

Daryl took a deep breath, and then concentrated on a spot just above her head. Nothing happened for a split second, and then he rapidly disappeared. Flickering out of this world for a blink of an eye before the air shimmered. A blur of browns, russets and reds began to come together forming a ball of energy which grew bigger and bigger. It became more focused, until a great big bear stood where Daryl had been only seconds before. Despite herself, she pushed herself back from him. Then she sat looking at him, while he stood perfectly still.

Regaining her courage, she moved a foot closer to him, and then another one. Reaching out her hand she kept going until her fingers touched his thick soft fur. He was amazing. Big, bulky, on short thick legs, a powerhouse of muscle, bone and teeth.

She touched his snout; he turned to sniff her hand, and then licked her, tasting her with his bear tongue. She laughed when it tickled her skin. Admiring the sharp white teeth that filled his powerful jaws and his amber eyes, which followed her every move. All the time his nose sniffed the air, constantly alert for danger.

This was what would protect her and their children if anyone tried to hurt them. Now she wanted him to change back.

She moved back to the rug he had laid out for the picnic, and sat down, unbuttoning the top of her shirt. Daryl didn’t need to be told twice. In an instant, he had shimmered back to his human form.

“I’m not sure why you wanted to be somewhere private. Because of the bear? Although plenty of people have seen you like that. Or because you think we should mate in the woods?” she asked innocently.

He made her feel so sexy, as if he had turned the dial up on her libido and it was stuck in high.

Daryl stood and watched while she slipped the shirt off her shoulders, and then unclasped her bra. Her breasts falling forward, aching for him to move closer, to touch them.

“Take off the rest of your clothes,” he demanded.

For a moment, her courage left her, and then she stood up, and stripped for him. When her clothes were neatly folded by the side of her, she stood up straight, resisting the temptation to cover herself up. She wanted him to see her, to want her, her sex already dripped with need. She couldn't wait for him much longer, it was agony.

Daryl began to remove his clothes. First, his shirt came over his head, giving her a chance to admire his chest once more. Then his jeans dropped to the floor, revealing the true extent of his erection. Painfully hard.

“Lie down.”

She did. He moved towards her, his eyes fixed on her wet sex, her pink lips glistening with her juices. Daryl knelt down, and pushed her knees apart. His finger drawing up along her sex, her juices gathering on his finger.

“So sweet. I could smell you. When I’m a bear you smell sweeter than any honey I’ve ever found.”

Her insides clenched as he bent his head down and licked her. His tongue slipping inside her sex until it crested on to her clit. She arched her back, craning her neck forward to watch him as he repeated his long leisurely tasting of his mate.

It was so good; his tongue expertly drawing soft whimpering noises from her. Now she was the animal, pitiful and wounded as he made her come with his fingers and tongue.

Pushing deep inside her, his tongue circling her clit until she could stand it no longer. Her hands went to his hair, fisting it, pulling it as she came. Her juices flowing from her as her orgasm took hold and didn't let go until she was completely spent.

Daryl panted. His hot breath on her thighs as he kissed her soft flesh. He gave her a moment to recover before he eased her up and onto her knees.

She knew what he wanted, and braced herself with her hands on the forest floor while he mounted her. He pushed deep inside her in one swift movement. Her sex, already wet and ready, yielded to him, stretching around his thick girth.

He placed his hands on her hips, and took her hard. This was the powerful bear, and he mated with her in a primal way. Hard and fast, his seed spurting deep inside her. In a chain reaction, her overly sensitive body followed. Her sex gripping him, making the friction between their bodies even more intense.

He roared to the world. This was his home, this was his mate. He was all man, and all animal too.

She lay naked in his arms until the air chilled. They made love once more. Daryl entering her from behind while they lay watching the water spill from the spring. His fingers leisurely stroked her clit. Occasionally playing across her breasts, tweaking her nipples. She leaned back against his shoulder and he kissed her mouth, her throat exposed to him. It was a sign of acceptance, a sign of his dominance over her body while they lay here in the forest.

She could feel the magic of Bear Creek all around her, or perhaps it was just the magic created by their love. Kayleigh knew she would never leave here, or leave him.

Telling her sister though. That might take some doing. But she could put that off for a while, and rejoice at having found her bear.
